About This Game 16 years ago, the city of Newport Falls belonged to the criminal organization IMPERIO. The members of this group spread fear and terror and held the once picturesque Newport Falls in a stranglehold of organized crime. For a long time, the police had nothing to oppose this power and IMPERIO was free to do as it pleased. Until one day a wily police officer, John Croft, appeared on the scene. Together with his taskforce, he was able to put a stop to this syndicate's deeds bit by bit. But just before he could arrest the leader, he and his organization disappeared without trace. John Croft, the hero and father of a young boy was found dead a short time later. There were two bullets in his chest. But the case was never solved. IMPERIO disappeared and the city blossomed and developed magnificently.16 years later, there is no longer any sign of what had happened. IMPERIO has returned and flooded the urban area with its criminal activities. The unthinkable happens when the mayor puts on a large banquet to present his future strategy against organized crime, which has been on the rise for months. During the presentation, a shady man draws a weapon and shoots at the mayor. Bullets fly; glass shatters and panic breaks out everywhere. At first, all that can be seen is the mayor lying on the ground. Next to him, police chief Michael Reese, riddled with bullets. He saved the mayor's life and paid with his own. The killer has escaped unidentified. In POLICE TACTICS: IMPERIO you play as Harvey Croft and take on the vacant office of the police chief. The game wants me to manage each police car and its patrol route, hiring and firing, promoting - that I understand. But micromanaging csi, interviewing witnesses, etc,? Who the heck trained these detectives? Why should I have to continually go back to the crime scene on the clunky map and click on each eyewitness, thereby directing the detective to take a statement? No, what else is the detective going to do? Just stand there and stare at the walls? Wouldn't it be a realistic assumption that the detective knows to interview people? Really all you should have to do is send them to the crime scene. The only part that lacks micromanagement is the part where it should be most important - apprehending suspects. Your patrol units just charge them head on no matter how well they're armed. You cant direct them to take cover or draw fire, or stagger your approach. I think here, the opportunity for a real "police tactics" game was missed.Still, I'd recommend giving it a try if it's cheap enough on sale. But only because there are only a couple of other police-chief simulators out there that arent much better. And if you're in the mood for that sort of thing well..... I wanted my "Blue Bloods: The Video Game" fix. This looked promising. The tutorials were banal but I kept going. Then crash, crash, crash, and by the way just for something different, no crash (but really, a crash). I didn't touch the game since I got it because I thought "Okay I'll give them some time to pick up the pieces and make something workable." NOPE! XDFlaming farts and fellatio. I really wanted a game like this but nobody else wants games where you're the good guy. "This is the Police" is about being a morally ambiguous jerk, "LA Noire" is about being a psychotic jerk, we get it, game developers have no idea how to write.Blue Bloods is awesome because it follows a family of police officers doing what they love and it always ends happily and yet there are SO MANY WRINKLES that it is interesting and engaging without all the dark spooky ambiguity rubbish.Game-wise, your other options are the Emergency series, a few attempted clones of that series on early access, and some arthouse visual novel type games. They're basically just toy truck driving simulators and "faux" edgy novels by pretentious poets. None of the sandboxy crime-solving glory this could've been.Hilariously I played this game for like ***40 hours*** and left it on all day and night and only took naps to keep my body's engine running. And when it had its biggest crash, it actually reset the playtime counter somehow. No, really, it did. Wtf.Imperio was the closest thing to a pure game about being a good police chief, and of course the devs didn't even have the decency to acknowledge their boo-boos and write a heartfelt post about trying to release bug fixes before wandering off. They didn't even PRETEND TO TRY. Everyone pretends to try! But I guess that would involve getting off the f*cking couch and doing something.I kept hoping that after I gave it some time, I'd come back to the page and see what one usually does when steam games are buggy on release - that eventually the developers fixed the faults and while the overall reviews say "Mixed", the recent ones say "Mostly Positive". Just nope. A graveyard of people saying "dead game" is all that's left of it.Devs I hate you with a fire hotter than the sun for giving up on this.. Its a really awesome game really funier then Police simulation series more logic and realisticReally an option for police fans. Didn't play too much yet, but my first impressions were pretty decent. You start off with pretty much nothing and have to stop ongoing crimes or investigate crime scenes. There is also an ongoing story as you play. As you do this your Officers will gain XP and you can level them to be more suited for certain situations (like Investigating, Tactical Thinking etc...). You will also get money for every crime you solve, which you can invest in better equipment, more officers, more cars and so on.I think the playstyle can be bit compared to SimCity and similar games, but instead of building you have to focus on keeping all your officers busy an try to make you cities population feel safe. I think if you like managment-simulation games you will definitly like this game.TLDR: Feels a bit like SimCity where you accidentally build Detroit.. While the UI can be clunky at times and would be helped by the inclusion of some comfort features, the game overall is fun and engaging, rewarding strategic planning and cool-headedness. There are a few things I'd like to see added, most notably tactical pause and a free mode, but the devs are actively engaged in discussions on the Steam forum and very responsive. If they continue that way, the game can have a bright future. In any case, what's here is definitely a bit rough around the edges at times, but overall a very good game, especially for the price.
